ALMOST PERSUADED

Our Pastor preached on this last night it reminds me of the following parts taken from C. H. SPURGEON sermon.
Only Gods power can persuade so many times I fail in areas God is trying to use me I Know of one time my Grandfather was very sick I Tried to get over to see him to give him the gospel I Never made it I Received the following morning how my Grandfather shot himself.This will always haunt me because I was almost persuaded to tell him the good news.

TO THOSE WHO ARE “ALMOST PERSUADED”

DELIVERED ON LORD’S-DAY MORNING, MAY 16, 1869,
BY C. H. SPURGEON,
AT THE METROPOLITAN TABERNACLE, NEWINGTON.
“Then Agrippa said unto Paul, You almost persuade me to be a Christian.”
Acts 26:28.
NOTWITHSTANDING his bonds, Paul is to be envied that he

Where the Gospel statement is clearly given, even if no reasoning is used, it will, under God, frequently convince, for
it is so marvelously self-evident, indeed, it would convince men universally were not the human heart harder than the
nether millstone and carnal reason deaf as the adder that will not hear the wisest charmer! The Apostle did not close his
sermon until he had made a home appeal to Agrippa. “King Agrippa,” said he (in something like the style of Nathan when
he said, “You are the man!”) “King Agrippa, do you believe the Prophets? I know that you believe.” He looked him
We must not only argue from the Scriptures, relate our experience, and give clear
statements of Gospel Truth, but we must also carry the war into the heart! The minister of Christ must know how to take
the scaling ladder and fix it against the wall of the conscience and climb it, sword in hand, to meet the man face to face in
sacred duel—for the capture of his heart he must not flinch to tell the faults he knows, or deal with the errors he
perceives. There must be a consecrated self-denial about the preacher, so that it matters not to him, even though he
should draw down the wrath of his hearer upon his head. One thing he must aim at, that he may persuade him to be a
Christian and for this he must strike home, coming to close quarters, if perhaps by God’s Grace, he may prick the man in
his heart, slay his enmity and bring him into captivity to Jesus!
Thus have I shown you the modes of persuasion which the Apostle used, and the object for which he used them. O
that such pleadings would persuade you!
“Almost persuaded” now to believe;
“Almost persuaded” Christ to receive;
Seems now some soul to say,
“Go, Spirit, go Thy way,
Some more convenient day
On Thee I’ll call.”
“Almost persuaded,” come, come today;
“Almost persuaded,” turn not away;
Jesus invites you here,
Angels are ling’ring near,
Prayers rise from hearts so dear;
O wand’rer, come!
“Almost persuaded,” harvest is past!
“Almost persuaded,” doom comes at last!
“Almost” cannot avail;
“Almost” is but to fail!
Sad, sad, that bitter wail—
“Almost,” but lost!

Make mention of Jesus name

As I WAS READING 105:1 O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.
105:2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.
105:3 Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
105:4 Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.
105:5 Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;
ACTS14:27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
Psalms 111:1 Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. ...Read more

Psalms 149:1 Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.
Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

I Noticed the above verse Praising God, and having favour with all the people I Wonder if God would add to the church daily if we did the same,so many times in the congregation I fall short not mentioning the marvelous things God has done in my life,there should never be a gathering together of the saints go by without boasting on our wonerful marvelous God we serve.
